Gardner/Mills Group, LLC has supported numerous health related non-profit organizations, helping develop long-term development strategies, create or enhance fund-raising events, identify new sources of funding, cultivate key audiences, engage Congress, and more. Our extensive experience has included a special initiative to double the NIH budget as well as a long-term engagement of more than 12 years with the Parkinson’s Action Network, which included extensive organizational development work and growing the income of the annual fundraising event ten-fold.

 

Foundation for Food and Agriculture

Foster Our Future Inaugural Event

Helping conceive, raise support for, and offer logistical support for the inaugural exhibition with VIP and General receptions as well as talks and panel discussions showcasing innovations in the food and agriculture sector for this 501©(3) nonprofit organization established in 2014. Event to be held in February 2019 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC.

Helped conceive and handled all logistics for a Moroccan-themed national fundraising event in Washington, DC. The sold-out event was emceed by CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley. The evening included a reception, dinner, silent and live auctions, and post-dinner dancing.

Health Quality Awards

For four consecutive years, consulted on format, coordinated logistics, and provided fundraising support for NCQA's Health Quality Awards at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium, attended by 450 guests. Honorees have included Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Senator Edward Kennedy, Dr. Peter Orszag, and Representative Diana DeGette along with such emcees as NBC's national health correspondent, Robert Bazell and NPR's Mara Liasson. The evening included a VIP reception, General Reception, and dinner with program.

20th Anniversary

Helped create an integrated strategy to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this national non-profit healthcare organization and provided fundraising support for the year-long effort.

  Forever Costa Rica

Disability Rights International

Google's Washington office was the site for DRI's U.S. launch, which honored Representative Patrick Kennedy and others. DRI is a vigilant international watchdog, publishing reports on human rights enforcement and promoting international oversight of the rights of people with mental disabilities. GMG provided event planning and management services to assist DRI in raising its visibility in Washington.

   

Campaign for Mental Health Reform

Provided event planning and fundraising support services for the First Annual National Awards Dinner for Leadership in Mental Health for the Campaign for Mental Health Reform (CMHR), an unprecedented collaboration of 16 national mental health organizations, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington DC. The event, emceed by Mike Wallace, honored former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, Senator Gordon Smith, and Representative Patrick Kennedy, all of whom attended.

Annual Morris K. Udall Awards Dinners

For more than 12 years, planned and executed this dinner for approximately 800 guests, with many Members of Congress, the media, major corporate government relations offices, and pharmaceutical representatives in attendance and with key Senate and House of Representatives Members present as honorees. From logistics to fundraising, to dealing with the Hill, evening program, seating, invitation and dinner program design and printing, GMG handled all aspects of this high-visibility event.

Parkinson's Action Network Public Policy Forum

Planned and executed 3-day annual conference in Washington, DC for 200+ Parkinson's patients, caregivers and advocacy community, including workshops, visits with Members of Congress, transportation, meals, signage, speakers, registration and registration materials. Also secured funding to help underwrite conference for four years.

Organized all details, including media relations and fundraising, of a sold-out dinner in the Washington Hilton Hotel ballroom with Michael J. Fox, Heather Locklear, Pat O'Brien, and other special guests, including media relations and fundraising.

Product Quality Research Institute (PQRI)

Planned and organized a two-day conference on the occasion of the release of a major scientific study concerning drug leachables and extractables. Senior FDA and NIH representatives, as well as international pharmaceutical and industry researchers and analysts spoke and attended. Included registration, materials design and production, on-site logistics management, meal planning and a special reception for all attendees.

   

ChildhelpUSA Children's Center of Virginia

Coordinated the opening, including media relations and fundraising support, of this new child abuse facility in Fairfax, Virginia attended by Governor Mark Warner, U.S. Representative Tom Davis, U.S. Representative Frank Wolf and others.

   

Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids

Provided strategic fundraising consultation and secured sponsors for the Youth Advocates of the Year Awards Dinner honoring Senator Tom Daschle at the Monarch Hotel.

   

The Washington Home and Hospice

Conducted in-depth analysis of previous and existing fundraising and event strategies and produced a comprehensive development plan.

   

4th Annual Walk for Hospice for the Washington Home and Hospice

Restructured and expanded this annual event to capacity, including fundraising and event planning.
